God said we were created like Him. We have been grafted with authority. So why have we become complacent with the philosophy that we should just do what we think/desire or in other words, what feels good???
James 1:13-16 (NIV BibleGateway.com)
13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. 16 Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters.
We must not be deceived! Simply put, we sin because of our own desires! But yet, we are called not to live in sin! By my reasoning, that must mean that we shouldn't live in our desires either. To live a Godly life, we must learn how to cast down every imagination and thought which does not glorify the King and tries to linger in our head. I used to think that I could stay sinless by controlling my actions. I would allow myself to think of crazy sinful stuff but would try to tame my behavior. Oh how foolish, I was. Sin's conception occurs in the mind, not in behavior. Thank God that we have been given knowledge and understanding that we may learn how to live a more holy life.
